Ultimate Coffee Date- December

HELLOOOOO! I am so happy to finally make it to The Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by three fabulous women: Deborah , Coco and Lynda. I am sorry I am late.  Please grab a piping hot cup and join me! Then head over to my gracious host’s blogs and see what they are up to this month.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I am excited that it is the holiday season! I love the parties, Christmas music and all the festive decor. My daughter and I decorated the house on Monday. Now all we need is to buy our tree!

If we were having coffee, I would share with you my all time FAVORITE Christmas book.  It’s called Christmas Joy by Susan Branch

Christmas joy

I received this book as a gift from my mother-in-law back n 1995. I read it every year to get into the holiday spirit.  It is filled with recipes, tips for decking the halls, timeless gift ideas and how to spread holiday cheer. If you need a gift for someone that has everything, I recommend this. I linked it to Amazon so you can take a peek inside.

If we were having coffee, I would ask you about your family traditions.  I like to hear the different ways other people celebrate! We are all over the place.  I spend Christmas Eve with Dan’s side of the family with dinner hosted by our sister then. Before dinner, we meet at church for a candlelight service.  Then Christmas day we go for a hike ( just the three of us and the dogs ) before going to my mother-in-law’s house for dinner with our step father’s whole family.  Last year things got CRAZY. Let’s just say we celebrated Jesus’ birthday the Irish way ;0)  HAHA – good times.  We get together with my brothers and sister’s clans whenever my one sister hosts her party. This year it’s the weekend before Christmas.

If we were having coffee, I will wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Then I will give you a BIG hug and hope you see you again in the new year.

If we were having coffee, what would you share with me?

  1. Karen @ Fit in France says:

I love our Christmas traditions. The 24th at my sister in laws and the 25th at our place. There are 10 to 20 of us depending on the year and who can / wants to travel. We usually make the same thing every year. For the 31st I prefer something much more low key, so it depends on my mood. Restaurant, friends, party, tv…. every year is different.

    • I like tradition on Christmas- same places, same menu. NYE always changes based on our mood too. Sometimes low key is best. Thanks for stopping by! Merry Christmas!

    • I would love to go to a traditional “Feast” dinner. I used to hear about all the amazing food my my sister’s MIL (now ex) used to make. I definitely missed the boat on that one!

  2. This year is going to be different for me… So no family traditions will be happening in my life. Typically the tradition we have is really really good food though – ha ha ah! So perhaps I will still be par-taking in that tradition, just not with my family…

    • What ever works! I skipped Thanksgiving with the whole family to go on a road trip. My small clan ate at a steakhouse. Haha it was great! No regrets. Go do something fancy!
