I have been wanting to sit down and blog for a few days now. Not that I have anything exciting to talk about. I wanted to drop in and say, “Hi! I am still here.”
If you read a few posts ago, I was wanting to buy myself a headlamp from LL Bean so I can start running in the pre-dawn hours.
This retails for $30 in the store. I scored one for $15 brand new in the packaging on EBay! It should be here in the next few days. Then I can get back to running. I miss it and really wish going after work still worked for me. And since I don’t have a treadmill, I am limited to almost no time. If you want something bad enough, you need to find the time and make it work. So that is what I am doing. I had many friends look at me like I am crazy for buying this ( I know, it’s dorky but it’s a safety thing ). They would tell me it’s getting light out at 5:30 AM ( Um.. no not really and pre-dawn light is not light enough to be seen either ). Or they would say just wait until it is light out earlier… WAIT? Why? Waiting will just add more time to thoughts of “If I only started sooner…”
In other news, this Sunday is my husband’s 40th birthday. We have plans to go to dinner with his side of the family at a gastropub that we started going to. Should be a good time!
Next week we are both on vacation ( although hubs has to travel for work anyway on Monday and Tuesday ). We were hoping to go camping for a couple nights but that isn’t happening now. Greta needs some old lady dog tests which will wind up being next week I think. Instead, I plan to get flowers planted and go through the storage bins in the basement to downsize our clutter. Maybe we can get some painting done if we can ever decide on a color and decor theme. We both like modern contemporary but the house feels like a cottage at the beach. If you have ANY idea how to melt those together, I am all ears. I also want to get in a few runs, maybe a day hike and of course yoga into the rotation.
Last weekend was my one year anniversary of doing yoga every day. I am pretty proud of that achievement. I can thank the Instagram community and yoga challenges for keeping my committed.
Are you planning on any vacation time in May? What is your favorite piece of safety equipment for zero dark thirty running?
Always remember ~ Be safe my friends!
