Vacation starts TODAY!

Hey everyone! How has your summer going? Time has been flying by since Al graduated. We had our annual July 4th picnic on the 6th. We had a great time with all our friends and family who were able to attend. We had around 45 people this year. Being a host is a lot of work but so worth it to see everyone laughing and having a good time. Between trying to visit with everyone, cooking and ending the evening with some fireworks for the kiddies, the day goes by so fast! I put my sister Joanne in charge of my phone to take some pictures. This is what happens when I put her in charge:

First picture. Everyone, meet Jo! LOL
We had badminton, horseshoes an a slip n’slide set up plus water gun fights and a few tossed a frisbee at random times too.
My cousin Liam – sliding home 😃
    My grandniece Sophia 💗

Cooking on the grill and fire pit to feed the masses! That’s my BIL Ron- Jo’s husband helping me out.

Even with all the celebrating, I have managed to keep working out (although not as much as I want) AND this week I finally broke through a plateau that has been staring me in the face since June. I am now down 24 pounds! I have another 14 pounds to lose to hit my goal. I attribute this to sticking to my eating plan with no cheat days. I have had some cheat foods here and there but have kept them to portion sizes and not over indulging. This is key! You can enjoy your favorite foods and still stay focused!
Dan is away this week on business. He is down in Orlando for meeting and some team building. The hotel he is at was kind enough to extend the stay through the weekend for employees that want to bring their families. So, I am flying down tomorrow evening to join him! I am excited and a little nervous since this will be my first time flying by myself (and my first time in Orlando!). I just want to get there already!! We have old friends coming up from S. Florida to join us for a few days. We haven’t seen them in a year since they moved and I can’t wait for them to show us around Sea World on Saturday! I plan on letting lose a little but still keeping track of my meals and fitting in a WO or two. I packed my resistance band so that I have no excuses!
One more thing- I want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes in regards to my sister Theresa’s diagnosis with BC. Thankfully, the cancer was caught early and did not spread! Now she has treatment scheduled to kick this for good! Keep her in your prayers for strength and good spirits to help her through this time. Thanks in advance!

That’s it for now. Do you have any vacation plans for the last half of summer?
How do you stay focused on your goals while traveling?

  1. Have a great trip. You'll love Orlando. That's so awesome you've been doing so well.It sucks that weight and healthy eating seems to be a never-ending lifelong battle! I know how it is! Even with eating gluten free, I have not lost any weight and feel like I've gained. It's very frustrating but I need to stick with it for life because celiac disease can be deadly. As soon as we have the money,I plan to incorporate more fresh fruits and veggies into my eating.Good for you, keep at it. Enjoy your trip.

  2. I can only imagine how hard gluten free is. I bet once you balance out your meals with fresh veggies, things will change. I am sure you have checked out farmers markets ( we pay half the cost of when food stores charge ). But, have you ever looked into joining a CSA? Maybe it's something to consider in the future:
This is a great website! Good luck!

  3. I'm glad to hear that your sister's surgery went well and I'll keep my fingers crossed that she stays in permanent remission! A family friend's mother (80s) just got diagnosed with BC, but with her age and fragile condition, she still hasn't decided what she is going to do. The doctors said it is low grade and said that when the time comes, she might not actually pass away from the cancer (sorry to be morbid, but its a complicated situation in her case).

And that's great that you've broken through a plateau! I hit workout plateaus and those are definitely hard to break through as well!! No plans for travel because I can't afford it, I'm just trying to work hard on my thesis so I can give myself a Masters degree for Christmas!

  4. I will keep your family friend in my prayers.
Masters by Christmas is a goal I am sure you will hit and what better Christmas gift to yourself! Vacation after all your hard work so you can really enjoy it!
